4 Favorite Pillow Sources

If I could give ONE piece of advice when it comes to home design, it would be this: PILLOWS CHANGE THE ROOM. That may sound dramatic, but truly, designer pillows have the ability to elevate a space. Today, I am sharing my favorite affordable pillows that mimic high design pieces. I shop these sources often. You can find many of these pillows in our home!

First, let's talk about a few things that differentiate pillows. When shopping high design pillows, here are a few things to look for:

Fabrics:

  • Linen - linen elevates a space and brings texture

  • Wool - Ty is allergic to wool so we do not have wool pillows in our home, but I wish we could! Thanks a lot,  wool allergy! ;)

  • Unique textures - killim, indigo, mud cloth, cactus silk

  • Down feather inserts (these inserts are excellent and are very affordable)

  • Fringe - (like the lumbar pillow in the first photo)

  • Tassles

  • Vintage - I love to incorporate a vintage (or faux vintage) visual in each pillow vignette

1. TSHAJ on Etsy

I have been ordering pillow from Tshaj for years. The blue pillows you see in the first picture of this post are from this shop. They are one of a kind, from Thailand.

2. LUVTEXTILES on ETSY

I recently discovered this shop when hunting for a specific pillow for a real estate client of Ty's (who I am helping design a space). I am SO impressed with this collection. I love vintage pillows that are perfectly imperfect. It was tough not to "add to cart" a few times while creating this blog post!

3. H&M

I ordered the first 5 of the 9 pillows shown below for our bunk room reading bench.. Ty is not a big fan of the quirky bunny pillow, which might make me love it more, ha! Gotta keep things interesting!

4. TARGET

Target has some excellent pillow options at unbelievable price points, specifically through their designer collaborations. I bought several pillows from the Studio McGee collaboration (had I known they would sell out so quickly, I would have bought more!). The Hearth and Hand line by Joanna Gaines has some great pillows, too. Hopefully they launch another collaboration too! Often these beautiful items are less than $29, often at the $20-25 price point, which is hard to beat!

There you have it! I highly recommend a mixture of 3-5 pillows on each sofa or bed, mixing patterns. I like to incorporate one solid, one or two stripes, and something vintage to create balance, incorporate textures and depth.

Happy shopping!
