Cabin Travel Guide
We love to make a good travel guide...we felt it was about time we do a travel guide for Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga! We had an amazing week at the cabin this January and enjoyed relaxing and taking it the solitude. The cabin is booking up quickly for the Spring! In preparation for the upcoming Spring and Summer seasons, we are sharing our favorite things to do near the cabin! Link to rental here
When searching for a vacation rental, we looked in many, many different locations. We wanted a mountain getaway that felt secluded, surrounded by nature, yet didn't feel desolate. Ty and I truly value the ability to take daily walks, so walkability right out the front door was a priority. Finding a remote cabin with walkability was not an easy task! Most remote cabins are located in areas without a place to walk safely (busy roads, secluded areas, wildlife). We were thrilled to find a beautiful log cabin located in a gated neighborhood. We love to walk around the growing neighborhood, admiring all of the beautiful new mountain homes getting built around us sprinkled amongst the nature. There are also trails within the neighborhood for hiking right outside your front door (there is even a waterfall on the premises)! And if that weren't enough, the golf course paths are walkable after the final tee time of the day (as well as Tuesdays when it is closed for maintenance). Our FAVORITE cabin activity is walking the paved golf path from our back yard, up the mountain, to a spectacular view of the sunset! See photo below. Talk about walkability!
We fell for the neighborhood, but also the location in general. Chattanooga is about 35 minutes away from the cabin. Again, far enough to feel like you are getting a true "mountain getaway," but close enough to still enjoy a city's amenities (local restaurants, craft coffee, Whole Foods...) Ty and I are not ashamed to admit that we love the rugged outdoors, but love our $5 oat milk latte, too.
Mclemore Amenities
A little more about the neighborhood....McLemore is a luxury golf community situated on Lookout Mountain, known for its mountainous golf course, which is truly spectacular. The neighborhood was recently purchased by a new developer who has been improving the community and has a pretty amazing vision. They recently built a stunning new clubhouse (photos below) and restaurant, the Creag, which has an expansive view of the mountains. The Creag is just a 1 mile drive from the cabin. We are certainly regulars when in town! I love the Caesar salad, and Ty the turkey club. Dine indoors with an uninterrupted view, or enjoy a glass of wine by the fire on the patio. McLemore also hosts live music on occassion. Sit on the lawn under the string lights while the sun sets over the mountain peaks. The developer is building two additional golf courses next door, creating more hiking trails within the community, and has plans for a new pool, gym, tennis, and more. We can't wait to watch the area grow!
Mclemore is a private golf club available to members and residents. However, they offer golf once per season to non-members if you like them on Facebook. See info here! So, you are welcome to enjoy the course during your stay!!
Rising Fawn Restaurants
The cabin is located in Rising Fawn, Georgia, just across the GA/TN border. The small town of Rising Fawn boasts some lovely restaurants within a very short drive of McLemore that we have come to love.
Lookout Mountain Pizza (the wood fired Margerita is my FAV! Occasionally they have outdoor live music, too!)
Canyon Grill (right across from Lookout Mountain Pizza, about a 7 min drive from the cabin)
The Creag (as noted above)
