Naples, Florida // Travel Guide

Michigan winter can really be difficult to endure. It’s cloudy, bitter cold, and hard to leave the house… though if you are most people, you have to leave the house multiple times per day. (Especially Hannah and I’s several hundred trips to Lowe’s and Home Depot this Fall/Winter.) After two weeks straight of negative wind chills and single digit temperatures, I told Hannah it was time for a weekend getaway to sunny skies and beach time. Cue….NAPLES, FLORIDA.

Naples has the most expensive real estate in the U.S. Don’t believe me? Just Zillow or Realtor.com it! It’s truly beyond comprehension. In Port Royal and Olde Naples, there are several homes that exceed 20,000 SQ feet and have lavish gates, pools, personal tennis facilities, and the creme de la creme of ocean views.

While we only had 3 days in Naples, and the first was “cold” for FL (55), we enjoyed our time SO much. We were able to enjoy the entire weekend for $200. I’ll be posting a blog later this week on precisely how we accomplished that.. Because you can too!!!

What To Do :

1. Naples Pier

Walk the pier for ocean views and local energy. Next, be sure to take a mile walk along the tide and drool over mansion after mansion. Truly one of the BEST walks Hannah and I have taken. The beauty is indescribable.

2. 5th Avenue and 3rd Street

Downtown Naples. Amazing. Palm trees galore, great seafood, local coffee, and an overload of high end shopping (Island Co. on 3rd St. was our fav). Oh, and we always encourage local, but there IS a Starbucks on 5th (you know, just in case).

3. Port Royal and Olde Naples

Houses. Houses. Houses. Hannah was in Heaven admiring the streets lined with gorgeous homes and endless character. Take a walk through Olde Naples, and drive through Port Royal.

Where To Eat :

1. Sea Salt

YUM. We ate here two days in a row. They start you off with fresh bread, olive oil, and three different sea salts from Hawaii with three distinctively different tastes. Hannah ordered the crab stuffed avocado with sweet potato fries and I enjoyed the grouper taco salad. DELISH. One of our favorite food destinations of all time.

​2. 5th Avenue Coffee Co.

Good coffee. Great vibe. Sunny atmosphere. Average coffee cake. They also offer a relatively inexpensive diner like dinner menu, which was quite good!

3. TONY’S ON THIRD

If you're looking for fine wine, snacks for a beach, or maybe a late night snack, stop by Tony's on 3rd for some grub to go. We enjoyed oreo cheesecake on the patio under stringed lights. The ambiance was 10/10. We were surrounded by music, outdoor heaters, and happy locals.

4. T-Michael's

Happy Hour! You don't want to miss this happy hour. I had the shrimp ceviche ($7 during happy hour) and Ty devoured fish n chips ($9). You can't beat fresh seafood overlooking the bay at those prices! (Bonus : across the bay was Judge Judy's home!)
