Our Baby Shopping List!

As you know, we are very intentional about consumption and would loosely define ourselves as "minimalists" (I say "loosely" as minimalism is very relative!) The ever-growing baby shopping list definitely overwhelmed us. We did a ton of research to find out what we really need and what we don't. As first time parents, it's impossible to know. I'm sure we over-bought some things and will be Amazon prime-ing some things we should have purchased!

Along with being intentional in regard to quantity, we also try our best to purchase things of high quality while remaining cognizant of cost! Here is a compiling of our baby shipping list! This is literally just about everything we have accumulated after carefully selecting each item! Not included: clothes (another post coming!), diapers (we actually bought a variety of brands to see which we like!), and wipes.

A few notes about the larger ticket items:

  • Bassinet and Changing basket - We registered for this bassinet and this changing basket from Design Dua (could not link them below). These baskets are beautiful! We also got our nursing pillow from there as well (though I linked this similar one

  • Stroller - After lots and lots of research, we went with the Mockingbird Stroller and are so excited! We obviously haven't "used" it yet but we did put it together and rolled around the house. It is beautiful, lightweight, and has many practical features. I'm so excited to take baby on long walks to the shipyard! We also bought the cup holder andinfant insert. I recommend buying directly for Mockingbird. I bought, returned, and exchanged a few things from them and their customer service was 10/10.

  • Carseats - We bought two carseats, one for each vehicle. We went with one infant carseat, and one convertible carseat (which can adapt to fit a toddler as well). We opted for this infant carseat, which is able to be attached to the Mockingbird stroller. It's lightweight, easy to carry, and was pretty easy to install compared to some others we tried. We bought this convertible carseat which will grow as baby grows, but cannot be used with the stroller, nor used as a baby carrier.

  • Bouncer - Everyone told us we needed the Baby Bjorn. I had originally registered for it, but then I saw another mom blogger mention this dupe which is $100 less and serves the same function. Besides the Snuggle Me Lounger, we did not get any other items for the baby to "sit in" (swing, etc.). Because these items tend to take up so much space, we are starting with just these two (they seem to be useful) and are hoping to not have to purchase more, but will if we feel it necessary!

  • Cleaning Supplies - I also wanted to mention that we swapped out all of our cleaning supplies for safer, more natural alternatives. We bought Branch Basics as well as some soaps and laundry detergent from Clean Cult

  • Diaper Bag - I am very excited about this purchase! Aside from the stroller, we researched this the most as I know it will get a lot of use. This bag is both beautiful and practical. We went with the large, which is a great size for all of baby's needs, and would make a great travel bag, too. We went with the gray but I also loved the black and green. I wanted to go with a backpack verses a tote bag, which I think will be much more comfortable to carry.

  • Sound Machine - We did register for the Hatch sound machine, which originally felt like overkill. It has many features like a night light (several color options), a timer, a variety of sounds, and the ability to set programs that communicate awake and sleep times (which is great for the toddler stage, apparently). Ty and I set it up in our room a few nights ago and we LOVE it, ha! Adult approved! The soft night light is great for late night chats; I know it will be nice for night feedings as it is very soft and not harsh on the eyes (like a regular lamp or ceiling light). Too, we've loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. We also ordered a portable sound machine for traveling.

Tip: We registered with Babylist, which I found to be user friendly and organized. They also offer a 15% coupon to Babylist and Buy Buy Baby near the end of your pregnancy. The babylist link is what we shared with baby shower guests. We also registered at Target, but did not share that link with friends and family. We simply registered there to take advantage of the 15% coupon they also provide before your due date! After both of our baby showers, we placed a huge order for all of the outstanding items on the list, along with a few months worth of diapers, wipes, toilet paper, and paper towel, all utilizing the coupon. Target will also send you a little package of full size samples if you register with them. Our package included some bottles, wipes, pacifiers, lotion, and a few other essentials!

Let us know your favorite baby items, mamas!
