Petoskey, MI // Travel Guide

With summer in full bloom, there's no better time to explore northern Michigan. Not only will you find cute, quaint towns, you'll also find some of the best weather in the country (during the summer!). Of the many small towns we absolutely love in Michigan, Petoskey, and nearby Harbor Springs, are our favorites.

Where To Eat

Stafford's Pier Restaurant

This fine-dining establishment in Harbor Springs has water views and sits right on the waterfront. A multitude of seafood and fresh fish options make this a northern Michigan must. They have a great happy hour!

Palette Bistro

This beautiful two story restaurant with incredible deck and rooftop views of the water, offers gourmet Mediterranean food. May we recommend: the roasted chicken panzanella or the smoked salmon salad. (Hannah loved all of the healthy options!)

Beards Brewery

A brewery with a view-ery. Okay, I'm sorry I did that. I just had to. Great pizza, brews, and even healthy options for the lady... all the while overlooking the incredible Lake Michigan. It doesn't get much better than this!

Populace Coffee

Populace Coffee is a Detroit based roaster that bought out Dripworks in downtown Petoskey. Delicious coffee, oat milk, and baked goods available (many of which are baked in house and gluten free, too. If you're into that kind of thing ;)

Things To Do :

Explore Bay Harbor

A small community tucked less than 10 minutes from downtown Petoskey, Bay Harbor is a water front neighborhood with a few restaurants, shops and a beautiful new arts center. The Great Lakes Arts Center brings in musicians, comedians, plays and more. Stop and grab a drink or bite at Knot Just a Bar... located on the water.

Stroll Downtown

Petoskey has a very walkable, clean downtown which is very enjoyable to peruse. Tons of fun shops, eateries, some of the aforementioned coffee shops and breweries, and views of the greatest of all lakes. There is also a waterfront park (see photo below).
