We're Moving....Part 4!

At this point, you can't be that surprised...4th move in 4 years! We were NOT looking for another property whatsoever, yet here we are. We adore our current home. We have poured our hearts and souls into this home (and the yard), fixing up every inch. We love our big beautiful oak trees, our mid century layout filled with windows, and the newly completed landscaping on our acre in the woods! For those of you who have watched us renovate our home extensively for the past year, you might be thinking, "WHY IN THE WORLD??"

It all began on our cross country road trip. In August, we drove from Michigan to Arizona, up the entire coast of California, through Lake Tahoe and Salt Lake City, and then back home. It was a whirlwind, and we loved it. Every time we take a long trip, we learn about ourselves, about the world, and about our priorities (our last big trip was last summer when we drove from Michigan to the PNW and back...the day we returned, we bought our current home!). Whilst sitting at Publik Coffee in Salt Lake City, Ty showed me a new listing (We look at every single new listing in greater GR every morning). One in particular piqued Ty's interest. He turned his computer to face me, and said, "We should buy this." I responded with a cold and concise, "No, thanks." Feeling happy in our home, and with the bulk of the project behind us, I couldn't imagine doing it all again. We renovated every inch of our home and the large, overgrown yard. The idea of moving again felt tedious, un-glamorous, and exhausting.

Fast forward a few weeks. After several days of being back home in Michigan, we grabbed brunch with some of our best friends. While enjoying some cold brew accompanied by breakfast nachos, Ty informed us that said property was still on the market. He convinced me to just go look at it (Okay, "convinced" might be a strong word...it doesn't take much convincing to get me to look through a potential flip! That is my ideal date night activity, after all). Our friends joined on this spontaneous adventure (ironically, these same friends happened to walk through our current home with us right before we bought it - we considered this coincidence a "sign.") After walking through the space, I told Ty I was in. There was little discussion. Some places truly just feel like "home." We knew it right away. I think it was God's prodding, rather that the actual space. All of our moves have been spontaneous and unplanned, yet we have felt immense clarity with each purchase. This one has felt no different.

We are moving from Ada (GR suburb) back to Grand Rapids, closer to downtown and East Grand Rapids (which was where our last place was located). We absolutely loved living in our condo in EGR. We dearly miss being just a few minutes from craft coffee, local brunch, and walks around the neighborhood. To boot, we do a lot of business around GR, and EGR, so we find ourselves in the area almost every day.

There are A LOT more details to fill you in on....like what we bought and our plans for the space! We also have so much to share about why we chose this place in particular (let's just say it's...unique!). There are specific reasons why we chose this property. We will share with you soon! This has all happened so fast that we have hardly had time to wrap our head's around this move, much less curate thoughtful blog posts. I'll try to complete a blog post early this week with ALL the details.

We began negotiating with the sellers just a few weeks ago, had a short close, and just began demo! Let the games begin...part 4.

Thanks for following along as we tackle another renovation! We look forward to sharing this journey with y'all again!

HJJ
