Our Andes Sofa: Full Review
I get asked about our Andes sofa ALL the time. We have now owned this sofa for a full year, so it's time for a review! Sofas are an investment. I knew that the sofa I purchased would be a part of my life for years to come, so I wanted to make sure that I was entirely in love with it. We searched high and low for the perfect piece, and this was it!
Here is a link to our sofa. We went with the twill fabric, and opted for XL size due to Ty's 6'2" frame.
PROS :
1. TIMELESS DESIGN
The clean lines and metal legs are modern, yet timeless. Our home is a mid century tri level. You know that I love decorating with mid century pieces to match the era of the home; however, I don't want our entire home to be limited to one era, limiting change. This sofa, and it's low profile, compliments mid century elements, without screaming "mid century" itself. If I decided to go more formal and sophisticated, it would still fit the bill. Same goes for a myriad of other genres, like Scandinavian, casual, or boho. This sofa should withstand the test of time, and be relevant as trends come and go.
2. CHAISE
I love that this chaise can be moved. In our condo, we had it on the left side. This was the best placement for it given the flow of the space. In our new home, we have it on the right side. Also, we often use it as an ottoman in the center of the room, in place of a coffee table.
3. FABRIC COLOR
There are several color options to choose from. We went with the Twill Stone. This tight tweed has slight variation to it, while remaining rather "solid" to the eye, creating interest without busyness. To boot, this fabric can pull beige or gray depending on its environment.
4. COMFORT
I will list comfort in both "pros" and "cons." Ty and I have differing opinions. I think this couch is very comfortable. It is wide, the cushions are soft, and the chaise is large enough to fit both Ty and I.
5. FABRIC DURABILITY
I spilled coffee on the sofa, and was able to remove the stain entirely, with ease. The fabric is not pilling, or pulling, and the sofa still looks brand new through our time owning it!
CONS :
1. Height/Comfort
Ty, at 6'2," does not love the height of the back cushions. When watching movies, he puts a pillow behind his head, on top of the sofa, to deal with the height. He will admit that the cushions themselves are very comfortable.
(I did let him pick out his own sofa for den! He went with this one).
2. Right Arm Cushion
The sofa's right arm does not have a cushion, like the left. It's not a big deal, but if I am sitting on that end of the couch for a long period of time, I often need to add a pillow.
