10 Favorite IKEA Buys!

We definitely have a love/hate relationship with IKEA. When Ty and I first got married, we furnished nearly our entire home with IKEA. Half of the things in our home fell apart, or didn't assemble quite as depicted (as I'm sure you suspected). While IKEA does sell many "cheap" products; we keep going back for the same few things that are tried and true. We are living in our 5th home. As you can imagine, we know our way around IKEA. Today, we're sharing what we think are IKEA's best finds!

1. BJORKSNAS Bed

We picked up this bed for the lake house a few months ago. It's a beautiful birch, with a minimal Scandinavian shape. The headboard is accented by linen pillows attached with leather straps. Truly, I still cannot believe this bed is IKEA. It is so charming; and feels like quality! I would absolutely buy it again!

2. The BESTA collection

We have had our BESTA cabinet for three houses now (Ada, GR condo, Lakehouse). IT was less than $300 and over 70" wide (which is perfect for a 55" TV!). We spruced ours up with sleek legs and leather pulls. The BESTA units can also be used with Semihandmade doors. We would like to swap out our doors soon to add some flair to the piece!

3. GODMORGON Vanity

We've used IKEA's GODMORGON line of vanities multiple times as well! (Ada Master Bath, Ada Guest Bath, GR condo bath). You cannot beat the price of these vanities, nor the storage. The large, gliding drawers provide ample space.

4. Baskets

IKEA has some lovely accessories! They never fail to launch the best baskets...we have this one in the lakehouse. It is perfect for blankets, adding texture to the space!

5. Cabinets

You can read all about our thoughts on IKEA kitchen cabinets here and here. We just outfitted a kitchen with IKEA cabinets for the THIRD time! We have used the VEDDINGE, KUNGSBACKA, and AXSTAD. We have enjoyed all three, and with a little patience, they can be constructed quite easily and adjusted as well.

6. Plants

IKEA is a wonderful source for greenery. I don't love their faux options, but they have a great selection of live plants. I recently picked up two of these figs for $20/each!

7. Planters

Along with the fig pictured above, I bought two wicker baskets, which are lined with plastic for proper drainage....$4.99! It took immense self control to not full my cart with many more! Here are some of my favorites.

8. Desks

I prefer to have my work space minimal and clean, so I have always gravitated toward simple office furniture. We recently purchased this desk for the bunk space (we swapped out the knobs), after utilizing another IKEA desk for years (see EGR condo office!).

9. Curtains

We have had great success with IKEA's LENDA curtains, which are a soft white. They filter light beautifully and are very affordable. They come with fabric tabs, which I like to cut off and replace with brass rings! I've heard great things about many of their other curtain products as well.

10. Frames

Lastly, IKEA is the absolute #1 place to purchase frames. Their price points are unmatched, and they have a great variety of white, black, and brass!

We have to make another trip to IKEA soon to return some kitchen items...we'll be sure to take you along on instagram
