Beach House Primary Bathroom

It feels so good to be blogging on the new website! Finally! Today, I’m sharing all the details on the primary bathroom at the beach house. I wanted this bathroom to feel light and fresh, but also warm and textured. White walls and a light color scheme makes for a happy space. The handmade tile, creamy cabinet color, and vintage rug add movement, interest, and warmth. When designing the floor plan, I added two windows in this room. You know me, anywhere that I can add a window, I do it! Natural light makes the room!

Now, let’s gush details. The wall color is BM Chantilly Lace, my go-to. We opted for cabinets instead of a freestanding vanity due to the size of the vanity that we needed (over 100”). “Gray Mist” by Wellborn Cabinetry is a beautiful cool beige. It is very similar in color to SW Repose Gray or Agreeable Gray. The plumbing fixtures are the Tisbury line by Pfister. The shower trim is a bit more traditional in style than the rest of the house. I was drawn to the shape of the shower head, which I felt complemented the handmade Moroccan tile. We installed Top Knob Lily pulls on the vanity.

I love the creamy color of the sconces. I actually ordered a different sconce originally. To my dismay, that sconce was a bright orange-y brass in color, a far different tone than what had been portrayed online. When shopping for an alternative, I liked the idea of a soft cream color instead of inviting more brass into the room.

Last minute, I decided to extend the size of the mirror past the sconce as to compensate for the ceiling height in the room. I’m so glad for that adjustment as it also adds a custom feel to the space! We got that mirror custom made by a local supplier (Seaview Glass).

The quartzite may be one of my favorite things in the bathroom! I was lucky enough to score a White Oblivion quartzite remnant that happened to be large enough for the long vanity as well as the shower curb (highly recommend installing your stone on the shower curb and niche ledge!)

The vintage rug is a find from my favorite Violet Vintage Rugs!

The shower floor is a marble 2x2 from Floor and Decor ($5.99/sf believe it or not!). I love installing the same mosaic in the entire bathroom as the shower floor. It creates a seamless aesthetic and simplistic design. Now, it’s the shower wall tile that steals the show! The zellige tile, installed in a vertical straight stack, adds an immense amount texture and character. Imperfect edges, high color variation, and a rich milky color make this tile a show stopper! In order to mimic an authentic Moroccan tile installation, we mitered the raw edges instead of using bullnose, a detail well worth the added effort!
